MEDICAL EVACUATIONS
FSS has successfully facilitated international emergency evacuations from highly challenging environments, which have saved many lives. The critical guide to medical evacuation is “under medical supervision” and compliant with best practice and current protocols, to ensure the highest standards of patient care utilising the appropriate equipment.
The deployed FSS medical team will always ensure that the patient is transported to the destination in the right platform and will ensure the “chain of care” is in place and a formal handover completed by the accompanying care provider at each stage of a medical evacuation and within the necessary timeframe where local conditions (time distance and road conditions) permit. Our medical evacuation services include:
- Immediate Casualty Evacuation: Initial stabilisation and treatment at the point of injury/illness and then movement in an ALS equipped ambulance to the site pre-hospital facility or nearest appropriate ‘off-site’ medical facility.
- Inter Hospital Transfer: The moving of patients between primary and specialist care facilities.
- International Medical Evacuations: The moving of patients back to their country of origin or an international medical centre of appropriate excellence.

After stabilisation, international expatriate staff with acute needs may require aero evacuation from the most suitable airport to a medical facility capable of providing appropriate levels of care.
With the Client appointed manager, the FSS site doctor or paramedic and the hospital holding the patient, FSS will coordinate any emergency aero medical evacuation by working with the Clients or affected Contractors existing medical insurance evacuation policy and provider.
FSS Operations office in the UK have extensive experience in coordination of medical evacuations. FSS will engage with and create the operational link with all concerned parties.
FSS have worked closely with various Aeromedical evacuation providers and conducted live medical evacuations from Pakistan (Karachi and Islamabad), Dubai and Liberia.
Where the Client does not have an international Aeromedical Evacuation provider, upon request FSS will introduce the Client to FSS special risk insurers who provide these policies.
