Arnie Campbell

Project Support Services Manager

Arnold is an accomplished International Project Support Services Manager, with over 30 years’ experience gained operating in frontier markets, having supported major construction builds, life support, logistics and security contracts in various locations across Africa and The Middle East.

Arnies’ recent work portfolio prior to joining Field Support Services Group in 2023, includes various higher management roles in the field of project support services for private companies operating in higher risk environments.

FSS has a long history of supporting US State Department Contractors and Arnie having passed the vetting process is currently providing facilities service expertise to a remote project site in northern Niger, West Africa, providing strategic direction and management to a US State Department life support services contract which includes ensuring the highest standards of serviced accommodation are met, which includes catering, housekeeping & laundry, property maintenance, logistics and the provision of local support staff to a restricted US Drone programme, where he has responsibilities to provide for 171 staff from various entities.

Arnie had been running the Zohak Groups famous Zohak Hotel from 2019 one of the busiest and highest rated hotels (4.5/5* Tripadvisor.com) in Kabul Afghanistan, which until the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 was supporting 11 companies with over 450 various contractors to the US State Department (including FSS.) He was responsible for higher-level management of daily operations within the fortified hotel which included the provision and management of catering, laundry, housekeeping, commissary, coffee shop, gardens, pool, gym facilities, parking, logistics and security.

Arnold excelled at bringing new Clients to the Zohak and in 2021 was promoted to Business Development Director for the Zohak Holding Group, Kabul, undertaking business development trips to the United States and Dubai, prior to the sudden US drawdown.

In 2018/19 Arnold was involved in the planning and implementation of a $½ Billion infastructure improvements construction contract in the ‘Holy City of Najaf’ Iraq bu.  Working with a Dubai and Oklahoma based construction company with decades of US Government construction contracts, Arnold headed up the presentation team that secured the initial multi-million-dollar contract, and worked with HR and Procurements and Contracts departments through the planning and hiring of key contractors and personnel onto the team setting up on the ground.

Arnold has undergone a diverse range of vocational and higher education training and qualifications, holding a UK Higher National Diploma in Logistics obtained at Cumbernauld Technical College and is a certified Food Production Manager, holding the American National Foods Institute (ANSI) Food Protection Manager and Conference for Food Protection (CFP) certification, mandatory for anyone

running food supply chain and catering services on US government contracts.

Arnold is also British Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licensed Close Protection Operative and Hostile Environment CPO, and a certified EMT-B and Tactical Medic. Useful qualifications to hold in higher-risk environments reflective of his earlier years providing security services.

Within FSS Arnie holds the responsibility for supporting camp facilities management bids, and upon any successful contract award establishing the operation with other FSS senior management team personnel.

Dr Khatir Bensalem

Chief Medical Officer

Dr Bensalem is a highly knowledgeable and experienced Chief Medical Officer who completed his studies at the University of Algiers, gaining a doctorate in medicine in October 2007.

Having gone on to achieve prominent positions including; Chief Medical Officer of International SOS Algeria. Senior Physician at the ‘International SOS’ Occupational Health Clinic. Senior Physician at the ‘International SOS’ ADRAR Clinic. Medical Advisor for BP Algeria and Medical Coordinator for ‘International SOS’ Algeria. He has an adept understanding and experience in providing and managing specialist medical service provisions in frontier markets and remote areas.

Dr Bensalem joined FSS in February 2023 to support operations as the Chief Medical Officer deployed to FSS Client Leo Lithium Limited world class Goulamina Lithium project in southern Mali.

His ability to converse in three languages – English, French and Arabic has proven invaluable when providing wider support to FSS Operations across The Middle East and Africa.

Prior to his managerial career, Dr Bensalem’s gained many years ‘hands on’ experience in the provision of primary care / GP consultations, as well as stabilisation and treatment of medical/trauma emergency situations, including multiple case accidents, cardiac and respiratory emergencies etc.

Dr Bensalem has an extensive academic history, having achieved a Doctorate in medicine – general practise, a Diploma in natural sciences, advanced level mastery of English.

Christie Badenhorst

Southern Africa – Regional Manager

Christie facilitates FSS services in the Southern Africa regions and is a highly qualified security investigations specialist and former Sergeant in the South Africa Police Service.

Based in Johannesburg, Christie holds a Diploma in Criminal Justice and Forensic Auditing from the ‘Rand Afrikaans University.’ Member in good standing with WAD (World Association of Detectives) and IAATI (International Association of Auto Theft Investigators). Currently serving as a director of IAATI SA Branch.

Christie has been supporting FSS operation in South Africa since 2010 and works with an extensive network of security contractors across the Southern Africa Regions. Facilitating a range of services including; executive protection, security assessments and investigation services.

Registered security service provider with the ‘Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority’ (PSIRA). Christie specialises in various defined sectors covering Insurance, Collision Investigation, Theft and Fraud, Due Diligence, High Risk Operations, Risk Assessments, Intellectual Property (Trademark, Copyright and Patent Infringement), Electronic Countermeasure Surveys, Overt and Covert Surveillance Systems, Executive Protection, Guarding and Event Security Management.

In addition to the commercial sector, he continues to provide support to the South African Police Service and other Law Enforcement Agencies, when required, with expertise including fingerprint specialists, polygraph experts, handwriting analysts, forensic accountants and forensic scientists.

Gulzar Rafiq

Middle East - Regional Manager

Gulzar has a long and credible history within the Pakistan security and risk management industry, most recently being a founding member of FSS Group company, Indus Support Services Pvt Ltd, registered in Karachi in June 2018 as a multi disciplined project support company providing a diverse range of services to FSS Group multinational companies setting up or operating in Pakistan, full details of which appear on the company website at www.indussupportservices.com and www.fss-gp.com.

From 2008 to 2018 Gulzar had been working for Skyguards Pvt Ltd who were in partnership with the FSS Group www.fss-gp.com initially as an Executive Protection Officer, an Operations Manager and then promoted to the Manager running the FSS Group sub contracted guarding contracts with Procter & Gamble (Pakistan) Pvt Ltd. Gulzar was responsible for the provision of guarding services in deliverance of the FSS contracts at all of the P&G sites in Southern Pakistan which included the Head Offices at Harbor View Karachi, at both the dry powder and “Pampers” plants at Port Qasim and the soap bar factory at Hub in Baluchistan. Gulzar was responsible for all guarding deliverables such as training, equipping, manning and the management of the KPIs’ in which he excelled running a combined force of approximately 130 guards, liaising continuously between FSS, the P&G Head of Security, the Finance department and the Management Team.

He also undertook the management of the executive protection team that was contracted to provide services at the residence and the mobile security of the P&G expatriate Country Manager and a second team providing services to General Electric expatriates visiting Pakistan continuously from Dubai. Notable during this period is that Gulzar participated in enhanced weapon and protection training delivered by the
Police Services. He is a licensed firearms holder.

From 2006 to 2008 Gulzar moved from British Airways and worked for Gerry’s Danata as an Air Ports Security Officer where he was seconded to provide services to various airlines including; Turkish Airlines, Emirates Airlines, Air Blue, Fly Dubai, and Cathy Pacific. During this period, he undertook further specialist security training from IAP including further scanning, weapon handling and a one month advanced security course which enhanced his knowledge and skills in weapon handling, case reading, firefighting, emergency response and physical training.

In 2004 Gulzar successfully applied for a post with British Airways to fill the post of Cargo Security Officer at Jinnah International Airport Karachi, after passing security vetting from the Ministry of Interior and Customs he passed the mandatory training of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority where he performed as a Cargo Site Scanning Officer.

Between 1998 and 2004 Gulzar had worked at Shimla View Shell Fuel site Abbottabad as Cash Manager in 1998 and held this position for 2 years. He handled all cash related matters including; cash collection, cash deposits in banks, fuel related stock management and record keeping.

He then went on to work for Askri Shell Fuel site Karachi in 2001 as Site Manager for 3 years managing all site related responsibilities; staff management, record management including cash and record, salaries distribution and stock management.

Originally for Abbotabad Gulzar was brought up and educated in Islamabad and matriculated there. Gulzar holds IATA accredited security and SSAT Computer Center qualifications and maintains strong links within the Pakistan aviation security industry. He is bilingual in English, Sindhi and other Pakistan dialects.

Ewan Melville BA(Hons)

Group Administrative Manager

Ewan oversees and manages administrative aspects of FSS Groups operations, leading the creation of project related documentation and financial / general administration.

Ewan provides direct support to the Group Operations Manager, in the orchestration and co-ordination of security escort taskings. He has provided reliable service to international clientele from both the corporate and industrial sectors on many occasions.

Ewan has been working with FSS since 2016, during which time he has deployed to Liberia and Jordan to support company operations in West Africa and The Middle East. Ewan is now predominantly based at FSS UK Head Office, in Hereford, UK where core services are administered from and current taskings monitored and co-ordinated.

Assisting in the creation of various internal / external company documentation. (Task briefing documents, client service documentation, geo-political reports, internal / external letters, references, service reports etc) Also Working closely with the finance team to create quotations for clients and invoice for completed services, as well as assisting with the consolidation of the companies accounts.

Ewan holds a Batchelor of Arts (Ba-hons) degree in Business Management, obtained from the University of Worcester, England. With the focus of his studies being on international business culture, business strategy and rethinking organisational values.

Ewan is culturally adept and enjoys working with international stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds, his focus on rethinking organisational values and experience operating in frontier environments with industrial clients, has resulted in a personal mission to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability in international business practice.

Mark Murray (BN)

Medical Services Manager

Mark is a highly experienced Paramedic (Bachelor of Nursing) gained from the Glasgow Caledonian University, with advanced trauma and advanced cardiac life support qualifications and specialisations in hepatobiliary and vascular surgical case management.

Mark joined FSS in August 2022 to support operations as the Clinical Lead deployed to FSS Client Leo Lithium Limiteds’ world class Goulamina Lithium project in southern Mali.

Benefiting from extensive operational knowledge and operational management experience in healthcare including remote, austere and non-permissive environments. Mark is the ideal candidate to support and develop the medical services delivery for FSS Client.

With a strong aptitude for workplace leadership and role development, Mark is a confident and capable problem solver with extensive experience supporting and developing new medical teams and improving working practices. Mark has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a calm demeanour and is adept at change management.

With over 4 years’ recent experience working as G4S Clinical Manager in Afghanistan, with day-to-day responsibility for the health and general well-being of over 400 staff, Mark is well versed in the requirements of frontline paramedic services outside of the National Health Service environment.

Previous requirements have included the production and management of ‘fit to work’ medicals, staff medical refresher training (as an accredited medical trainer licensed to deliver FPOS(I) EFAW, BLS, PLS and Mental Health at Work level 1-2-3) and Drug and Alcohol Screening, as well as the day to day primary health care and monitoring of patients. Mark also possesses current UK Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH and Food Handling & Hygiene).

Mark benefits from previous military experience. Serving from 2004 until 2017 with the British Army Reserve as a member of the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corp. During this time, he deployed on the British Army ‘Operational Herrick’ tours to Afghanistan building on existing skills, also gaining experience of PHTLS combat care dealing with wounded soldiers
operating in austere environments. Mark earned the military Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan and also the Civilian Service Medal for Afghanistan.

Mark is a highly skilled, qualified and current ‘front line’ Paramedic healthcare professional that FSS welcomed to its team.

Issiaka Sanogo (MA)

West Africa – Regional Manager

Issiaka is the FSS Group West Africa Regional Manager, and is responsible for providing strategic direction, oversight and higher level management to FSS operations across Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Niger, Senegal.

Issiaka (Shaka) Sanogo is a highly competent, energetic and dynamic Malian national, a founding member and shareholder in FSS Mali. He is resident in Bamako and has a wealth of local knowledge as well as an extensive network of local contacts within the Gendarmerie, Police and various government authorities such as the Department for Immigration, Tax Authority and DNGM (Ministry of Mines).

Issiaka achieved a “Master’s Degree” in English from the Université de Bamako in 2013 and as well as speaking several Malian dialects is fully trilingual in English and Bambara with his native language being French.

Following his education, Shaka secured a post as a ‘Capital Transfer Agent’ with Dadi Traore and Bank Atlantic of Mali until the end of 2014.

In 2015 Issiaka was then offered employment as the personal translator and assistant to the Chief Operations Officer of the Africa Gold Group Mining Inc. deployed out to their Kobada Gold Tenements south of Bamako and was also given the responsibility of local national camp manager, then expanded to negotiate and manage artisanal miners that encroached onto the tenements. He was successful in his role and gained a great deal of experience in frontier management.

FSS Group expanded operations into Mali in 2017 and recognising the excellence of Issiakas translational skills with his outstanding ability “to get things done”. He was offered a shareholding and permanent employment as FSS Mali SARL Country Manager. Where he managed all aspects of the company’s corporate matters including tax, payroll, importation of equipment and vehicles and day to day management of the Company.

With the continued expansion of FSS operations into the bordering countries, in 2019 Shaka was promoted to the position of West Africa Regional Manager, where he now provides direction and higher level management to FSS operations in West Africa.

Bryn Melville

Group Operations Manager

Bryn is a Certified Fraud Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. His final exams having been taken in June 2017. He is also holds an in-date FREC 3 (First Response Emergency Care) qualification. The QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) was shortlisted for the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) ‘Qualification of the Year’ Award 2018, and is one of the few first aid qualifications recognised by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and endorsed by The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care – The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Bryn joined the Royal Marines in March 2003 at the Commando Training Centre near Exeter. After completing the arduous thirty-week recruit training course and gaining the Determination Award he went on to serve as a Royal Marine Commando, during which time he was consistently commended for his professionalism and capability of working long hours in demanding conditions, whilst maintaining a sense of humour and cheerful demeanor.

Bryn served within 45 Commando and deployed on an operational tour of Northern Ireland in support of the Northern Ireland Police Service, where his leadership skills were rewarded with command of a section. Bryn was then drafted to The Commando Logistic Regiment Royal Marines, based in North Devon, where he saw further service in Afghanistan, in Helmand province where he participated in the Royal Marines Battle Group deployment as part of a NATO led stabilisation mission.

Bryn, was also deployed on a lengthy exercise as a Radio Operator, in the Mojave Desert of North America, a testing environment that requires high standards of stamina and personal discipline just to survive in extremes of heat and terrain. At the other end of the temperature scale, a deployment to North California and Norway, to further improve his fortitude and determination in the depths of arctic winters.

Bryn contracted with FSS in November 2009 as part of the Nigerian Ministry of Police Authority 7 Cities Crime Reduction Programme at Kaduna in Nigeria. He was in the training team for Border Security where he instructed Map Reading, Field Craft, Weapon Handling, Searching, Observation Posts, Physical Training, Fire Control Orders, Patrolling and Range Work. Bryn was there until the successful closure of the contract which saw the training of 500 officers in March 2010. In February 2011 FSS put Bryn through the internationally regarded and City & Guilds and SIA accredited 5-week Executive Protection Officers Course run by Delta One Limited in South Africa, which included full Bodyguard training, advanced and evasive driving, live fire drills to team level, unarmed fighting and advanced first aid as well as the modules for home, office, travel and route planning security. Bryn excelled during the mission planning phases of the course and was awarded “Top Student” and remained for a further week as a medical assistant deployed in a trauma ambulance gaining real life trauma management skills in Johannesburg.

In September 2011, the Company further enhanced Bryns security and risk management skills when he qualified in September 2011 in the SCTW 95 progamme as a Ships Security Officer trained in commercial anti piracy operations. FSS complemented this by further courses qualifying Bryn with an IQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training. He is a qualified Security Trainer.

Up until November 2012, Bryn deployed from the Hereford office to support FSS international clients as an Executive Protection Officer having undertaken taskings in Liberia with FSS Client the Amway Corporation and Russia in 2011 with FSS Client Nomura Bank. In September 2011 Bryn was placed in the London based FSS Executive Protection Team detailed to provide EP services to the youngest son of a Forbes 10 High Net Worth Indian family who was undergoing a university degree.

Having demonstrated exemplary performance in the field, in late 2012 to broaden his security experience Bryn was invited by FSS Senior Management to fill the position of Guard Force Operations Manager for FSS Group’s subsidiary, FSS Jordan, managing the manned guard forces of the company’s client portfolio in the country for 2 years. His responsibilities grew and the Company added business development including the preparation of commercial proposals to his portfolio and through his own efforts Bryn secured the Arab Amman University as a Client, eventually running an FSSJ portfolio of guarding contracts worth over US$ 2 million in Amman, Safi and Aqaba.

To enhance Bryns experience within the FSS Group further, he was seconded to Field Services Liberia In late 2015 to mid 2016 in the role of an Administration and Logistics Manager. He ran the commercial operations for the FSS HGV vehicle fleet of 4 and 7 tonne trucks. On the run down of operations in Liberia Bryn was recalled to the UK and re-deployed as an Operations Manager by the Group running tasks for various Clients in diverse countries which in 2017-18 has included inter alia; Egypt, Ethiopea, Ghana, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Portugal and Turkey.

At age 35 Bryn remained the senior FSS Group Operations Manager planning and running a wide variety of Client taskings through full cycle as well as deploying as a Team Lead for higher profile Clients, However, in March 2019 sister Company Field Support Services Group Ltd secured a US$6.8 million security services contract providing armored B6 vehicles and fully equipped paramilitary escort teams made up of various nationality combat veterans for a major US Defence Contractor based in Kabul Afghanistan. Bryn has been running this contract since inception.

His principal hobby is boxing, boxing for Stamford Amateur Boxing Club. He also enjoys functional fitness and hill walking.

Gary John Organ

Director of Operations

Gary is the Operations Director at FSS Group for all of the businesses international operations. He provides strategic direction to FSS in country managers and over watch of all FSS contracts.

Gary joined the British Army as an Infantry Junior Leader in 1976. After successfully completing the one year Juniors Leaders training course, Gary went on to serve for 10 years with the 1st Battalion of the Parachute Regiment and a further 12 years up to honourable retirement discharge point with the Special Air Service.

Gary’s career culminated as a Warrant Officer in the Special Air Service Regiment (22 SAS) being accountable for over 250 soldiers and NCO’s. Gary’s, responsibilities included all aspects of military training, operational and HR management. Gary experienced a diverse career in the military, his early years spent on operational service including combat operations in the first Gulf War and Bosnia. He planned and conducted several operations in numerous countries including Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Gary excelled in operational planning and directed multiple exercises involving; anti-terrorist organizations; government departments; police departments; security agencies; managed risk assessments for embassies; and held responsibility for all aspects of security and training of multinational agencies worldwide; he conducted liaison at the highest level with government and police departments in the UK, USA and other countries.

On leaving the UKSF in 1999, Gary joined Genric Holdings Ltd as a Security Consultant and Risk Management Expert, responsible for security management to various multinational companies such as: Roche Pharmaceuticals, Procter and Gamble, Amoco Oil, Oryx Oil and Gas and Shell being seconded to Genric Philippines.

Gary’s position included the conduct of complex security surveys, asset management and protection, physical security of executives and families, development and implementing of security procedures, conducting investigations, facility security surveys including; physical facility protection planning of alarm systems, camera systems, man guards and access control systems.

Having formed close Client relationships on behalf of Genric Gary was promoted to the positon of Chief Security Lead, being responsible for all aspects of physical, VIP security management for executives, managers and families, of his Clients largest contract for US Steel Kosice, based in Slovakia Eastern Europe, a post he held for 10 years.

Specifications included: conducting security surveys; operational planning and protecting security of travel for executives and families throughout various cities in Europe and Middle/Far East; asset protection management, continuation training of security guard force; investigations and research, problem resolution, procedure and documentation development, administering and developing of training and management of a highly specialized Executive Protection Security Team in Eastern Europe.

Gary’s career with Genric, came to its pinnacle as Security Manager for US Steel, based in Houston USA/ Hamilton Canada. Which saw him auditing large scale facilities to assess/minimize security risks; direct and conduct investigations and interviews; decipher legislative documents to ensure compliance; training and managing local security guard force at all facilities; responsible for management and continuation training of an Executive Protection Team.

In 2014 Gary sought change and joined CNPCI-C (China National Petroleum Corporation, International Chad) as their Regional Security Advisor, engaged to provide security advisory and training duties in the exploration and production stages of their operations in the Republic of Chad.

Gary had earlier in his career served with the FSS Group Founder, and in 2017 was invited to join to FSS as the Operations Director.

Andrew Melville MM

Chief Executive

Andrew is the founding member and Chief Executive Officer of the 5 Companies that make up the Field Support Services Group of companies. Andrew is based at Hereford in the UK.

Andrew established Field Security Services Limited in October 2006 and served as its Managing Director successfully building a niche security and risk management company operating in high risk environments attracting a plethora of instantly recognisable international Clients, high net worth individuals and has delivered training services to governments friendly to the United Kingdom.

Recognising shortfalls that exist in other support services fields in the countries where FSS operates follow on companies are established or dissolved as opportunity raises and wanes to deliver medical, project support, light logistics and transport services in addition to security services. FSS Companies have or do operate in Pakistan, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria and Jordan and the Company has a wide alliance network and strategic alliance agreements with other companies to increase reach. The Group has operated in more than 30 countries since inception and will provide services to other security companies for mutual benefit enabling them to also increase their reach.

Andrew provides the leadership and business direction for the Group occasionally continuing to undertake sensitive risk management consultancy work for selected Clients as well as overseeing or setting up contracts for new Clients.
Andrew has a full professional military background having completed a one year course with the Infantry Junior Leaders Battalion, 7 years with the 1st Battalion The Parachute Regiment and after passing UKSF selection in 1983 joined B Squadron 22nd SAS Regiment serving for 16 years where he undertook various operational tours including 2 years commanding Amphibious (6) Troop B Squadron. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery and leadership in the Field.

Postings outside of the Sabre Squadron but within the UKSF included, VIP Bodyguard Instructor to the President of Namibia CP Team, Chief Warrant Officer Instructor at the British Army Jungle Warfare School Brunei and finally an Operations Warrant Officer at the United Kingdom Joint Special Forces Task Group HQ working in an operational planning, organisation and deployment post of the UK Special Forces. He retired from the army in 1998 having been awarded a Late Entry Commission as Captain of B Company 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment after 24 years service.

Upon leaving the army Andrew provided VIP security and training services in Europe, setting up a complete Executive Protection and Residential Security team for a billionaire German businessman which he then ran for eight months. In 2001 Andy took a 3-year contract as Head of Corporate Security to Cell C, a start up cellular network provider in South Africa and a subsidiary of the Saudi Oger Group. When he handed over to his local counterpart, he was responsible for a security and risk management department of 40 and had total security responsibility for almost 5,000 staff across 3 office parks, 2-telephone call centres, a warehouse complex, 24 retail outlets and 800 cellular masts and controlled a budget at that time of ZAR 21,000.000. ($2 million)

Following his return from Africa, in 205 Andy undertook a year long contract as Project Director for Erinys Iraq running their 15 x PSD team, 340 man, $30 mil US DoD contract, providing security escort and guarding services to the US Army Corps of Engineers during the re construction phase of post war Iraq. He then returned to Hereford in the UK undertaking a number of sensitive security consultancy, assessments and contracts in Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria and South Africa before forming FSS.

These include the extractive industries, the defence and other manufacturing sectors, the banking, finance and auditing sectors, various NGOs as well the provision of services to Governments friendly to the UK. Andrew holds many military and various security management qualifications including IOSA aviation auditor TRANSEC Maritime & Rail Security Manager and is licensed by the UK Security Industry Authority (SIA) as both the Owner and Director of a company offering licensable security services. Each FSS Group company is licensed and insured in its own country of operation.
